The Brief

We produce 3 weekly programmes for BBC Radio 1 and an important part of that production is ensuring Radio 1's Social Channels are populated with high quality content to promote our shows. Radio 1 needs to be everywhere the youth audience spend their time, in order to get the attention of existing and new listeners.

The Solution

We therefore create an array of images, audio and video content to connect the online audience to the programmes. Recently, US artists The Chainsmokers put together a guest mix for Annie Nightingale. They are creators of the '#Selfie' track and their video has now had over 63 million Youtube views. Our team decided to create Annie's own '#Selfie' video which was posted on Radio 1's Instagram a few hours before broadcast and Radio 1's Facebook and Twitter around the time of broadcast, to ensure the posts reached the maximum amount of people.
