BBC Radio 1
BBC Radio 1 regularly invite documentary ideas, which are broadcast on Monday nights at 9pm. The Stories might cover musical subjects, or social issues and human interest.
We contributed to a series of documentaries about independent record labels, giving behind the scenes access to some of the most influential record labels from the UK. We produced two of the documentaries in the series; The Story of XL Recordings (home to Adele, Basement Jaxx, White Stripes and many more) and The Story of RAM Records (one of the original and most respected Drum'n'Bass labels).
Nihal went to the XL headquarters in West London and spent an afternoon in the studio with Richard Russell, the label owner. And Mistajam headed to Essex to RAM Records HQ and spent a morning in their music room with Andy C & Scott Bourne.
The above video accompanied the XL story and was posted on the Radio 1 website and YouTube channel.
