The Brief
In February 2013, Radio 1 launched 'Access All Areas' month, giving the audience access to what goes on behind the scenes. We were tasked with finding ways to reflect that campaign across our Radio 1 programmes.
The Solution
For the first time ever on Radio 1, we produced an entire show recorded in binaural, immersive, 3D sound. Using special microphones that allow the audience to hear exactly what Rob hears, the show gave you an insight into a day in the life of Rob da Bank; from waking up on the Isle of Wight, to arriving in the Radio 1 studios in London. The show also contained Radio 1's first ever binaural session with Lucy Rose, which sounded like you were sitting in the Maida Vale studio surrounded by Lucy and her band.
